Taking proper care of your tattoo is essential to ensure it heals well and maintains its quality over time. Follow these aftercare instructions to protect your new ink:

1. Keep the Bandage On

 • Your tattoo artist will apply a bandage after your session.

 • Leave it on for 2-4 hours (or as instructed by your artist) to protect the area from bacteria.

2. Wash Your Tattoo Gently

 • After removing the bandage, wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.

 • Use clean hands—don’t scrub with a towel or sponge. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel.

3. Apply a Thin Layer of Aftercare Ointment

 • Use a fragrance-free tattoo ointment or lotion (recommended by your artist).

 • Apply a thin layer 2-3 times a day, ensuring the tattoo is moisturized but not smothered.

4. Avoid Soaking

 • Do not submerge your tattoo in water (no baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, or saunas) for at least 2 weeks.

 • Showering is fine, but avoid direct water pressure on the tattoo.

5. Protect Your Tattoo

 • Avoid direct sunlight as UV rays can fade your tattoo.

 • Once healed, always use sunscreen to protect your ink.

6. Don’t Pick or Scratch

 • Your tattoo will likely scab and itch as it heals.

 • Refrain from picking at scabs or scratching, as this can lead to infections or damage the design.

7. Wear Loose Clothing

 • Tight clothing can rub against the tattoo and irritate the skin. Opt for loose-fitting clothes until it heals.

8. Monitor for Issues

 • Redness, swelling, or discharge could indicate an infection.

 • If you notice any unusual symptoms, contact your tattoo artist or seek medical attention.

Healing Timeline

 • Days 1-3: Redness and slight soreness are normal.

 • Days 4-14: Scabbing and peeling may occur. Keep moisturizing.

 • Weeks 3-4: Most tattoos are fully healed, though deeper layers may take up to 6 weeks.

By following these steps, your tattoo will heal beautifully, leaving you with a stunning design to enjoy for years to come!
